The collection consists of one letter from J. Young to Jonathan Burroughs regarding the sale of a Negro slave boy. It sheds light not only on the economics of slavery in the Cotton Belt, but on the more humane aspects as well. It is valuable also on some of the problems of emigration from an older section of the South and settling in a new country.
